Polls
Polls enable you to gather feedback, opinions, or votes from your users in a structured and engaging way. You can create polls to interact with your audience, reward participation, and control who has the ability to vote.
Scrimmage offers a streamlined, user-friendly approach to creating and managing polls in a gamified environment. You can host thousands of polls on your dashboard, but each user will only see the ones they’re eligible for—ensuring a targeted, relevant, and engaging experience that maximizes meaningful feedback and participation.
Using our poll system, you can create a variety of engaging and rewarding polls:
- Vote on upcoming features: Which new feature should we prioritize next? — vote now and get 10 tokens for sharing your opinion.
- Survey user preferences: What item would you like to see next in our store? — the most popular choice might become a permanent addition.
- Feedback on promotions: Did you enjoy last month’s special discount event? — share your opinion and earn 5 status points.
Polls can also be created without rewards
Polls can be used to gather feedback without rewards, such as measuring satisfaction after a feature launch or gauging interest in updates. This approach focuses on genuine user insights over incentives.
Creating a Poll
When creating a new poll, there are three main sections to configure:
- Configuration
- Rewards
- Restrictions
Each section allows you to tailor the poll to meet your specific needs.
Configuration
Under Configuration, you can set the core details of your poll by providing a clear and concise title that reflects its purpose. You can add different options and easily rearrange them by dragging.
- Title: Provide a descriptive and engaging title for the poll.
- Description: Add instructions or details to guide users and clarify the poll's objectives.
- Allow Skip: Let users choose whether to skip the poll.
- Multiple Answers: Enable a checkbox to allow users to select more than one answer.
- Revote Limitation: By default, users can change their votes an unlimited number of times. If needed, you can enable the revote limitation option to specify how many revotes are allowed.
- Completion Duration: Define how much time is available for voting, such as 10 minutes, 30 minutes, hours, days, or weeks, or leave it unrestricted.
- Result Visibility Duration: Control how long the results remain visible after the poll ends.
- Start Date and Time: Schedule the poll for a specific launch date and time or let it begin immediately.
Lastly, add any pertinent instructions or details in the description field to guide users and clarify the poll’s objectives.
Rewards
Polls are integrated into a global rewards framework, allowing for flexible and customizable reward options tailored to user participation. This system enables personalization for both individual users and specific audience segments. Detailed information on reward types can be found in the rewards section of our documentation.
Restrictions
In the Restrictions section, you define which users can vote on the poll. By default, anyone can participate; however, you have the option to specify additional criteria, such as a required user level, certain perks, or any other user properties. Users who do not meet these requirements will be unable to cast a vote.
Poll Statuses
A poll goes through three main statuses: pending, in progress, completed.
Pending
If the admin has not set a startedAt
field, it is automatically initialized with the current time when the poll is saved, ensuring the startedAt
field is always defined. A poll remains in a pending state if it has not started yet—either because a future start date is set or it has not been manually activated. During this time, you can still make changes to the poll’s configuration.
In Progress
When the poll is in progress, it is active and eligible users can cast their votes. You may review the poll details and close it if necessary, but you cannot edit the poll’s configuration once it has gone live.
Completed
When the poll is completed, it has ended or has been manually closed, allowing you to review the final results and statistics but preventing any further changes to its configuration.
Poll Statistics
You can open a statistics modal to review the poll’s status (pending, in progress, or completed), when the poll actually began, the total time allowed for responses, the overall number of users who participated, and a breakdown showing how many votes each option received. These insights help you understand user preferences, track engagement, and refine future polls.
